Are Wool Ironing Mats Truly Worth The Hype?

A gray carpet with sheep on it.

Have you tried a wool ironing mat yet?  If you don't have one yet, you are missing out.   I Love mine!  It was a game-changer for me.    Mine sits next to me on my sewing table and makes it easy to use for applique and traditional quilting.  It is also very portable and makes it easy to take it with you to a class or on a quilting vacation.

How does it Work?  The heat from your iron reflects the warmth, and it is like ironing both sides of the fabric at the same time.

Do's and Don’ts.   I would suggest not using starch or steam with this mat to avoid mat discoloration, residue, and unpleasant odors.  However, I have had no problem using Best Press.

I do not have anything under my mat, but some quilters place a towel under it for added protection.

This mat is versatile and easy to use both for quilting and sewing projects and pressing your clothes and should become an essential tool.  It is available in 4 sizes:  17″ x 17″; 14″ x 14″; 17″ x 24″ and 9″ x 9″.
