Unlike sewing, where you are joining your fabric together, quilting is stitching three layers of fabric together by hand or machine.  There are two basic types of quilting:  Hand or Machine Quilting.  Many Quilters do both.

There are several ways you can get started quilting.  First, you can visit a local quilt store.  If they don't give classes, they will most likely have a list of people you can contact.  If there is a local Quilt Guild, attend one of their meetings to see if you can find an instructor.   There are several excellent classes online that cater to new quilters, or you can always check out Youtube.com.

I am a Quiltaholic and can't pass up something on the market that looks like it will work for me, so I am sharing tools that I use while quilting.  If it is something that I have not tried, I will let you know.
